Abstract

This document describes a research project whose aim was to develop a typology of immaterial impacts due to the violence associated with the Colombian armed conflict in the Montes de María subregion, in the Caribbean Coast. It first offers a categorization of the concepts of immaterial impacts from different disciplines, grouping them into institutional, psychological, and anthropological concepts. It then describes the ethnographic methodology employed during the fieldwork that was carried out in two small town in the subregion, Zambrano and Guaymaral, both in the department of Bolivar. It then goes on to offer a typology of the impacts in these towns based on the frameworks for impacts provided by the Centro Nacional de Memoria Historica. Finally, after identifying some of the problems with the typology provided, offers a model for mapping the ways that people describe their memories, experiences, and impacts as individual, collective, regional, national, and universal.
